Wanda Akers is a North Carolina native with a B.S. Degree in Biology from Western North Carolina University. She recently moved to Franklni after living in the Washington DC area, where she worked in the accounting industry for many years. Longing to escape the corporate world, she attended the National Massage Therapy Institute in Falls Church, VA to obtain her diploma in massage therapy. After passing the National Boards, she moved to Western North Carolina to begin her new career. She believes that therapeutic touch is of the utmost importance to the human body and that regular massage should be a part of everyone's health care.

It also helps the lymph fluid to return to a healthy condition. Many chronic conditions can be alieviated with lymphatic drainage. Symptoms that are said to respond well to Manual Lymph Drainage are the healing of wounds, burns and scars. Most insurance companies do cover Massage Therapy. It will be determined by the doctor which type of massage would be best for you and the frequency of treatments.

What to Expect

Please dress comfortably for your massage. Indicate to the massage therapist any areas of concern or specific issues you may need to have addressed. During the course of the 30 minute treatment, it is vitally important to let the therapist know if you experience any discomfort. Massage Therapy should not hurt. It is very important to let the therapist know if, at any time during the treatment, the pressure reaches an uncomfortable level. Massage relieves pain and lenghtens muscle fibers. It also allows the lymphatic system to remove excess toxins and cellular wastes. It will be necessary for you to increas the amount of water you consume for the following 24 hours after your massage.
