My nam is Lora and I'd like to share my story with all of your who suffer from chronic back pain.

Over 12 1/2 years ago, I had thoracic back surgery to repair 2 ruptured discs in my thoracic spine. I had tried everything prior to this surgery including physical therapy to injections into the spine. Nothing worked and my surgeon told me that if I went to a chiropractor, "I would be paralyzed".

Since the initial surgery, I have had 4 spinal implants, numerous nerve blocks and, of course, heavy narcotic pain killers. Nothing lasted any length of time and my frustration led to depression which led to more pain - you know the pattern, I'm sure.

When we moved from Colorado to Franklin, North Carolina in July 2007, I was physically spent. No amount of medication would help. Then I met Dr. Barnes.

This was not an easy thing for me to do in light of what my surgeon had previously told me, but I had seen what Dr. Barnes had done for a dear friend and his 87 year old mother so I ventured into the unknown. As soon as I saw my x-rays, I could see what and where the problems were. Dr. Barnes was aware of my fears but assured me that he would be cautious of those areas that were of concern to me.

That was in mid-January 2008 andonce I started treatment, I was able to get off all of my pain medication. I have not needed anything since then except ice or heat. I tend to over due at times, as I'm sure you do, but I haven't needed medications as that is how much I have progressed since first seeing Dr. Barnes. I am now seeing Dr. Barnes every few weeks and looking forward to it.

My point is, if you can work past the fears and learn what chiropractors can or can not do, see Dr. Barnes. If he can help, he will and if he can't, he is honest enough to tell you. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I have my life back and I will be forever indebted and grateful to Dr. Barnes for that and so will my husband.
