Dr. William Barnes
Your Franklin Chiropractor

Lora's story

My name is Lora and I'd like to share my story with all of you who suffer from chronic back pain. Over 12 and a half years ago,  I had thoracic back surgery to repair 2 ruptured discs in my thoracic spine.  I had tried everything prior to this surgery, including physical therapy to injections into the spine.Nothing worked and my surgeon told me that if I went to a Chiropractor, "I would be paralyzed."

Since the initial surgery, I have had 4 spinal implants, numerous nerve blocks and, of course, heavy narcotic pain killers.  Nothing lasted any length of time and my frustration led to depression which led to more pain - you know the pattern, I'm sure.

When we moved from Colorado to Franklin NC in July 2007, I was physically spent.  No amount of medication would help. Then I met Dr. Barnes. This was not an easy thing for me to do in light of what my surgeon had previously told me, but I had seen what Dr. Barnes had done for a dear friend and his 87 year old mother, so I ventured into the unknown.  As soon as Dr. Barnes reviewed and explained my x-rays to me, I could see where the problems were.  He was aware of my fears and assured me that he would be cautious of those areas that were of concern to me.

That was in mid-January 2008 and once I started treatment,  I was able to get off all of my pain medication.  I have not needed anything since then, except the ice or heat Dr. Barnes recommends.  I tend to over-do at times, as I am sure you do as well, but I haven't needed pain medication, and that is a sure sign as to how much I have progressed since my first visit to Barnes Wellness Center.  I am now seeing Dr. Barnes for regular wellness appointments every few weeks and looking forward to it!

My point is, if you can work past the fears and want to learn what Chiropractors can or cannot do, see Dr Barnes.  If he can help, he will and if he can't, he is honest enough to tell you and refer you to someone who can.  You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.  I have my life back.  My Husband and I will be forever indebted and grateful to Dr. Barnes for that.  Thank You.

Leslie's story

In April of 2000, I had back surgery (discectomy) for a ruptured disc in my lower back.  After 6 months of following doctors orders (physical therapy mainly) I was having chronic back and leg pain.  I was prescribed Vioxx and pain medications that aggravated my stomach.  After seeing 2 more doctors for the pain, I was told "I was as good as I was going to get and I had to learn to live with it."  A dear friend of mine had been urging me to see a Chiropractor, but I was afraid.

After 6 years of suffering, I finally came to see Dr. Barnes.  After my assessment, he believed he could help me.  After 3 months of hard work (mine & Dr. Barnes!), I am amazed to be virtually pain free!  I still see Dr. Barnes for monthly wellness visits and am enjoying a much more active life -- even riding horses again!  Dr. Barnes is truly a God-send!

Robert's story

I am writing this for my husband, Robert.  He has had serious health problems for over 6 years.  On top of these problems he became diabetic and developed back problems.  He has spurs on his back and shoulders, that are pressing down on nerves in his back.  He has been to many doctors as well as back specialists in Asheville and they all told him there wasn't anything they could do.  He has been in a wheel chair for 4 years.  On one of his doctors visits, they recommended him seeing Dr. Barnes.  That was the best recommendation any doctor could have given.

My husband has seen Dr. Barnes 4 times and now a man who could do nothing for 4 years, is walking more, doing things inside and outside the home,  laughs and "cuts up"!!!  He is an entirely different person!  It doesn't stop here though.  One day while in Dr. Barnes office, we were discussing the Neuropathy in his feet and Dr. Barnes, who is trained to help with this condition, went to work on his feet.  My husband now has feeling in them again!

Dr. Barnes really cares about his patients.  He is one of the most caring and compassionate doctors we've met.  He's not only our Chiropractor but our friend as well.  I thank God for what he has done for my husband, Robert, in just 4 visits and can only imagine how Robert will progress in the future.  I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Barnes to everyone.  He is truly the BEST.  Thank You and God Bless You for what you are doing for my husband and others.  There are not enough good words to say about Dr. Barnes, our Chiropractor.

Willa's story

Dr. Barnes, when I first came to you, I was having sharp pains in my legs among other problems.  After you gave me an adjustment, I haven't had any sharp pains, anywhere.  I can do things now that I haven't been able to do for sometime now.  You not only know what to do and how to do it, you let your patients know that you care about them by the way you treat them.  You are not only a great Chiropractor, you are a great human being.  Thank you.
